Interview mit Melissa
da sie aus Texas kommt wird es jetzt etwas
amerikanisch 😉

Hi my name is Melissa and you can find me blogging at Simply Sweets by Honeybee.I would like to thank Karin for having me as a guest on her page today. I’m truly honored to be here. I met Karin from Lisbeth`s Cupcakes & Cookies through my Facebook page. She likes to say that she is my biggest German fan.:-)!!! I don’t think I’ll ever get used to the idea that people outside of the United States know about me and follow what I do. Karin has been very sweet to me and I appreciate that so much. It’s amazing how the internet can allow us to connect with people all over the world.

Karin has asked me a few questions and I’ll answer them now.

1. When did you start baking?

I don’t remember the exact age I was when I started baking but I remember always being around my mother in the kitchen and wanting to help her. My mother used to make our birthday cakes and she loves to bake desserts. I guess this is where I got my love of desserts and baking.

2. Do you bake every day and where do you get your inspirations?

No I don’t bake every day but I wish I did. I actually have a full-time job working in accounting and baking is my hobby. I take local orders when I can and also love to teach on my blog. I started my blog as a way to show my family and friends what I was doing and it has grown into a place where I like to share ideas and recipes with others. I have several tutorials available on everything from decorated cookies to cakes & cupcakes. It is a labor of love and passion of mine. If blogging could be my full-time job I would love it. As for my inspirations, I find most of them in stores. My idol is Callye of The Sweet Adventures of Sugarbelle. When I discovered her I became obsessed with cookie decorating. It is because of her that I have learned to look at everything as if it can be made into a cookie. Cards, wrapping paper, pillows, wreaths, etc. You name it I try to see it in cookie form and ask myself if I can recreate it.

3. Which part of America do you live in and what do they bake there traditionally?

I live in Texas. Houston, Texas to be exact. Texas is in what they call the South. I would have to say that pies are big in the south. Also, cobblers, crisps and cakes. There’s not much that Texans don’t like to make. We like our sweets here.

4. What would you wish for with five wishes?

First, I would wish for good health. I’ve had some struggles over the last couple of years with pain and have been told that I have fibromyalgia. So if I could be pain free that would be awesome.

Second, I would wish for good health for my family and friends. If I’m going to have good health then they need to also.

Third, I would wish to win the lottery so that I would never have to work again. Enough money to buy some land and live away from the big city. I grew up very close to the country and I used to help my aunt with all her animals on the farm. I would love to go back to those times when life was simpler and the world wasn’t so crazy.

Fourth, I would wish to write a successful book. I love to collect cookbooks and books about desserts. What an honor it would be to be published.

Fifth, I would wish to own my own bakery so that I can bake every day and share my sweet creations.

5. Are you dreaming about icing sugar and baking powder?

Surprisingly I never really dream about baking but I will say that some of my greatest ideas come to me when I’m taking a shower. Ha ha. I don’t know why but I guess my mind is free to really think in there.

6. What is your biggest cake accident?

My husband took a cake to work that one of his co-workers ordered from me and he drives so crazy that when he got there all the icing had come off one half of the cake. He had to bring it back so that I could ice it again and I made sure that I drove it back to his work.

7. What should people know about you?

People should know that I’m not only a baker. I love to read but don’t get to do it as often as I’d like because I’m always so busy. I also love crafting. My mother is so creative and has always been a crafter. In fact, she made just about every ornament on our Christmas tree when we were growing up. I used to love helping her make them. She’s also good at sewing. I try to follow in her footsteps and I’m good at some things but I’ll never be the crafter that she is.

Many Thanks Melissa for the insight into your private life.I am very proud to have your here and appreciate it.
